Growing up in provincial New Zealand I was surrounded by gardens and orchards of delicious fresh produce. Encouraged by a large and supportive family I’ve always had a love of cooking, and this passion led me to award winning success at Hotel School and learning the craft of fine cuisine alongside New Zealand’s most talented chefs in the country’s best French influence restaurants. Following Hotel School, I joined Sheraton Auckland Hotel & Towers, and as Catering Sales Manager inspired the hardworking Sheraton team to create many memorable events for our clients.

“My older brother is a well-known winemaker in Pemberton, Western Australia, and one of my other brothers is a farmer in New Zealand’s South Island. We really are a family with a heritage in fresh produce and wine.”

Originally from Singapore, I first moved to New Zealand to study at university. After teaching gifted students at Singapore’s leading girls’ school, I moved into recruitment to continue working with people and fostering the talents of high achievers. Just four years later I launched my own successful recruitment company, and the client and candidate-driven model I pioneered there was the catalyst for the guest-centric culture integral to St Marys Residence. With Michael I’ve enjoyed a multicultural array of wonderful food in Singapore and throughout Asia, and my heritage and these experiences have definitely enriched and shaped our culinary knowledge. My brother and sisters also work in the hotel industry with leading international brands like Shangri-La, Pan Pacific and Raffles.

“My father loved flavoursome and healthy food, and was a strong advocate for organic produce. My mother is an excellent cook, famous for her northern Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine at our regular family gatherings.”

Building on what we’ve experienced when travelling the world, we have converted our beautifully renovated home in Auckland’s finest inner city suburb to an elegant and unpretentious urban retreat cocooning guests from a busy world and the pressures of modern life. Travellers are invited to enjoy our unrivalled and convivial hospitality and superb food and wine, either from our own kitchen or at nearby award winning restaurants. Auckland is now taking its rightful place on the world stage as an emerging international city, and our five-star serviced private residence is the perfect haven for guests to enjoy a blissful stay in a sophisticated space they can truly call their own.
The welcoming and laid-back people of New Zealand are natural hosts, so we decided to share our wonderful home, city and country with travellers from local regions and around the world.
We look forward to welcoming visitors from near and afar to our luxurious and chic residence in exclusive St Marys Bay,
truly a ‘home away from home’ when visiting the
    beautiful city of Auckland.

Living in the Pacific region, we’ve dined at some of the finest restaurants in Australia and New Zealand, and our culinary mix of French and Asian influences is now enhanced by a respect for fresh produce and ingredients. The crosspollination of cooking styles championed by chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Neil Perry, Kylie Kwong, Martin Boetz and the stellar Tetsuya Wakuda have all been inspirational. We have the culinary confidence and sense of adventure to take on a wide repertoire of dishes, and prepare nutritious and preservative-free meals for our guests using organic produce wherever possible. The aroma of fresh baking often wafts out of our kitchen, and Michael’s vanilla and prune tart hits a home run every time.

We’ve stayed in some of the world’s finest hotels
in Paris, London, and throughout Asia and the United States. Another experience we’ll never forget is travelling on the
Orient Express luxury train from Singapore north to
    Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Our vision is to create the perfect haven for our guests to enjoy a blissful stay in a refined and sophisticated space they can truly call their own…an ultra luxury home away from home!
